Well if you clicked that nifty link, I guess you want to know about me.

I am a mom who believes in living as naturally as possible. I think home birth is for most women with normal pregnancies, breast feeding is a must, cloth diapering can be cute, cheap and functional, and the people need to stop using chemicals that are harmful to us and the environment.

I have change a whole lot since I graduated from high school (which I guess most people do.) I used to think that I was the type of feminist that would want drugs during childbirth, want to have a grand career, and wasn’t so sure about having my own biological children.  Boy, oh boy has that changed though.  I got pregnant with my son in 2009 (he was born Jan. 9th 2010) and it changed my life for the better.  I learned a lot about myself.  First, I ended up wanting and having a home birth (see my blog for details), went back to school only days after his birth… and after a while decided that being a mom is what rocks my world.  I am still going to finish my degree because I feel it is important to have that piece of paper in case something happens and I need to find work, but right now I will be a stay at home mom (which I was totally guilty of looking down on before having a baby – boy was I stupid!)

I feel that people should do what they love – be in the house or out.  I do place value in one parent being at home with kids though if possible.

I am in love with music!  That’s what my degree will be in and I have been doing music related things for over a decade. I think music is underestimated (both in uses and in complexities).  I am only missing my foreign language requirement for my degree … so I am just about done.  Oh, and I am a singer!

I also have lots of hobbies such as knitting, weaving (I used to spin too), sewing, painting (not very well I might add), and gardening.  I am a modern hippy I guess. I lately have been on a knitting kick – so look at my knitting section some time.  I hope to create my own patterns to share soon (when I carve out the time.)  I have also been on a research frenzy on organic gardening.

I am trying little by little to transition our lives (my family) to a healthy, organic. and holistic lifestyle.  I do think the things we do now will make or break a healthy future.  I really think that I have been spurred on to make this change in our lives because of becoming a mom (and naturally I might add.) I still have lots of room for improvement though!

I live in Texas with my husband (Chris) and our 1 year old (Tristan).  Chris and I have been together since high school and I must say he has always been super supportive to me.  I will also add that he got me started with using more natural products by requesting I wear organic make-up (he was concerned about the chemicals and heavy metals make up often contains.) I really couldn’t be happier with anyone else though…even if he is a worrier!
