Going "crunchy" one day at a time…

I’m so bad about this blogging thing

Post

I know I take forever to update this thing.  But, it’s all good.  Well let’s see…what has happened lately?  My life is never super exciting really.  School is…well..school.  It keeps me running for sure.  I am doing super well in all my classes minus one.  My orchestration class is really hard for me.  I attribute this partly because I am a singer, and not an instrumentalist…and what are we doing?  Why looking at and writing orchestration scores!  What a thought!  It also doesn’t help that I am NOT awake really at 8am.  Even though I have to be up by 5:30 to get to class ontime (I commute)…this doesn’t seem to change how awake my little brain is at that hour.  I don’t really feel truely awake until around noon.  Very sad.  So my goal for the rest of the semester is to focus on that class so I can bring my grade up to an A.  We’ll see if it’s possible.  Call me silly, but I’d really like to graduate with a 4.0 or close to that.   Besides that, although busy, my grade in all my other classes are really great.  Next week will be interesting though since I have several tests and a music rehearsal for a good friend of mine that’s getting married!  Although I am not really religious…I look forward to singing for her wedding and making it a happy day for her and the groom (although music has really little to do with the day).  Speaking of singing…I got a new microphone a couple weeks back.  It works pretty well, and is very fun to record with!  I promised my old boss/friend who is moving to Quatar that I’d record stuff for him to listen too and such.

Besides that, home life has been mellow.  I’ve not had hardly any time to spend with friends in town.  I really regret that since Joe has called me to see if I can hang out soon.  I am hoping I won’t be too tired when I get home so I can go see him and play games or something.  Most days I drive Chris to work in the morning (actually he drives, but then I switch), drop him off, and then drive out to Huntsville.  It’s an easy drive, but can get boring after a while.  I then toil away in school for how ever many hours are demanded for that day…and then go and pick Chris up from work.  I am very lucky that he then makes dinner usually.  Then I often have homework to do, and then I try to have some relaxation time before the cycle repeats (my life is not shampoo…really!)  I was very lucky this past week because I have a couple days off from school, which gave me a four day weekend! WOW!  I was starting to forget what “me” time felt like.  It was nice, but as always didn’t get all I wanted to done.

Valentine’s day was pretty much a wash though.  Chris had to work, but we had made plans to do stuff when he got home.  Well I got up and went out to the store to get some little things for Chris as soon as he left for work.  Then came home and napped off and on (I just was super tired that day…couldn’t help it) and did a few other things I had planned for the day.  Chris came home and I decided I was gonna get up and spend the evening with him…but sadly he went to sleep for a while.  By the time he got up, there wasn’t a whole lot of time left since the next day I had planned to get up early to finish a bunch of homework.  At least Chris was sweet and made it up to me by taking me to Austin the next day (yea, so much for homework) to see Meghan!  I had so missed her!  So although the day wasn’t about us as a couple, I was very happy to spend time with Meg since I so rarely see her these days.  She took us to a couple neat restaurants to eat, and then to random places in Austin.   We found an “Everything Celtic” store, which was neat.  The only bad thing is that since most everything was imported…it was just a bit expensive!  We also went to this Japanese grocery store.  Oh how I love mochi with sweet red bean…oh and green tea ice cream!  We also got to play a neat card game called Flux (if I recall correctly).  It was interesting since the rules keep changing.  I think I am going to keep my eyes open for it in the store next time I go.

Also during my nice four day weekend, I got to talk to a friend that I haven’t had the chance to in a long time.  I always enjoy such times as that.  Nothing like catching up.

Well sadly it’s about time for this choir girl to go to rehearsal!  I have a concert this Saturday at FUMC on the square in Huntsville at 7:30 (this is a reminder for the few people I know who are coming!!)

Peace!
