More stuff about the wedding and such
Well once we got to the venue we unloaded the cars of all our wedding junk and put the girls stuff upstairs in one of the rooms, and the boys stuff down stairs in a room there. I went upstairs to start getting everything ready (myself included). Everything was going pretty smoothly…we were desperately trying to iron my dress, which was being uncooperative…and then ironing Meghan’s dress. I won’t take the credit for ironing as it was all Meghan and my mom doing it all. Once that was all done we all started getting dressed. I would say we were done in about 30 minutes which was great since girls are usually the ones that take a long time to get ready. Meanwhile, my dad was running up and down the stairs taking messages back and forth…poor guy. Some time during this the minister came up to talk to me…he seemed convinced I was nervous and kept telling me that everything was ok and that “we” were just going to take it a step at a time. Maybe most brides are nervous…I don’t know, but that isn’t me. Anyways, once everything was in place we were just waiting on the guys. Turns out Chris’s brother (a groomsman) and another groomsman were both forced to go shave, since the came in looking like bums according to Chris, which ran the wedding a bit late. When we finally did start going I heard the grooms music more then I should have, and I admit I was wondering why he was taking so long…but finally he came out and then went my maid of honor paired with Chris’s best man (both of which had our rings), and then my bridesmaids (Courtney, Lauren, Melissa, and Lori) paired with Chris’s groomsmen (Stephen, Mark, David, and yes another David). After Them came my parents since I wanted both of them to give me away…and then came me down the stairs. It was a nice ceremony, even though I was sick…and am now just getting over it. I had several people come up to me saying “aww you cried during your own wedding how sweet” when in actuality, I was sniffling so that snot wouldn’t pour down my face. Let them believe what they want though! Sounds better, and much more romantic I suppose. After the ceremony we all socialized a little before dinner was ready. At that point we all got our food and sat down. Tom made a nice speech, and so did Meghan. They truly are great friends. Anyways then my mom had one glass passed around and everyone made good wishes for Chris and I’s future into it and he and I drank them down. A nice tradition I think (from my side of course). Chris’s dads’ speech was very nice too, and I will say that I do feel a bit more part of their family now. I hope Chris feels a part of mine. Once all the food and well wishes were done Chris and I attempted to cut the cake. First our hands were tied together and when we picked up the knife to cut with and started to cut it…it broke! We had to get a different knife to finish our cut! It was a cheesecake wedding cake with mixed berries on top. It was sooo tasty! We still have plenty left over! Once everyone had their fill of food and friends everyone started to trickle home and Chris, me, Lori, Tucker, Melody, Tom, Chris’s grandpa and aunt stayed the night at the bed and breakfast.
I am glad to see your entries about your wedding. It was beautiful, the southern-style mansion decked out in poinsettias and holiday lights, the bridal party descending the stairs with the stained glass windows at the first landing, afterwards you folks posing for photos on the outdoor balcony. And the food…fantastic! Your grandmother was crying through the whole ceremony, and later complained that she couldn’t hear it. Lol ! Your Aunt Kathy and she sat right up front, too. Am looking forward to seeing at least some photos of it.
You brought back great photos of the honeymoon in Japan, too. So interesting !
